Environmental
Commitment
The mountains bring us together. Looking after them is up to all of us.
Our commitment
A race that wants to leave its mark on people, not on nature
Sobrescobio Redes Trail takes place in a natural setting that is part of its identity. We want to enjoy its mountains, trails and landscapes with the utmost respect, helping to ensure that this natural heritage can still be enjoyed in the future.
That is why we are working with Taxus to move towards a more sustainable organisation, identify our main environmental impacts and put in place measures that reduce our footprint on the environment.

How do we want to improve?
Protecting the environment
Preventing impacts on the trails, vegetation, wildlife and natural areas the race passes through.
Less waste
Reviewing materials and aid stations to avoid unnecessary waste and improve how it is collected and sorted.
Responsible runners
Encouraging good practices and promoting respect for the course, for other people out on the mountain and for the organisers’ instructions.
Measuring to improve
Identifying the race’s main impacts and monitoring the measures taken to assess how effective they are.
Continuous improvement
We see sustainability as a process of continuous improvement: analysing what we do, making changes, measuring the results and continuing to improve edition after edition.
Analyse what we do
Make changes
Measure the results
Keep improving and start again
A shared commitment
The sustainability of a mountain race does not depend on the organisers alone. It also depends on every runner, supporter, volunteer, supplier and partner organisation.
We want Sobrescobio Redes Trail to be an opportunity to enjoy sport, showcase the area and show that we can organise mountain events while working ever better with our natural surroundings.
Specific measures and environmental results will be added as they are defined and validated together with Taxus.
Children’s activity · Saturday 24 October
Educational walk with Taxus
A guided walk for children aged 6 to 12, led by the sustainability educators of Taxus Medioambiental. First they will watch the start of the race, then they will walk to the Ladines aid station.
- Route: from Rioseco to the Ladines aid station (3.3 km) and back the same way.
- Age: 6 to 12.
- Time: right after the Skyrace start (9:00).
- Meeting point: the start square in Rioseco.
- Duration: less than 1 hour each way.
- Places: 20, on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Guides: Taxus sustainability educators.
The route is the last section of the race, the same one the runners take before reaching the finish, so it will be clean and marked. Along the way, the educators will explain the surroundings and answer the children’s questions. At the aid station they can have a snack and watch the runners mid-race.
In the afternoon, the youngest can also run the Mini Redes.
